Where do old ball players go when they want to retire and make a lot of money?
The Yankees of course, the ultimate rest home.
The Yankees need to start using their farm system. There are no kids coming up from the minors. In the past the Yankees brought kids through the system. Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte, Derek Jeter, are all Hall of Famers – and they all came up through the ranks. Since 2003, the Yankees started buying their team, and they’ve only won one championship since.
Now, it’s the 2013 season and the Yankees have all their eggs in one big money basket. There’s no one they can count on.
Center fielder Curtis Granderson is out with a broken forearm.
Texeira, the best Yankee defensive first baseman, is probably out for the year. He not only improved the game, he improved Alex Rodriguez’s and Derek Jeter’s game as well.
Andy Pettitte should be good for how many games? Maybe 10 or 12, but it’s doubtful he’ll survive until September.
To replace Alex Rodriguez, the highest paid man in baseball the Yankees paid 12 million for Kevin … who? Let’s not even go there.
CC Sabathia is good, but he’s lost his fast ball. That was his wear and tear.
Mo is a mystery. I’d like for Mo to go out on a high note.
We’ve started out with a loss, that’s a good sign that the Yanks can only go up from here!
After all, it’s only baseball$$$
